Welcome to the ‘Take A Short Break .co.uk’ website: an ever growing database of information, deals and advice on short breaks all across Europe.
A short break to Dublin could be just the ticket. Whether you are planning a shopping trip to O’Connell Street, a sightseeing trip (maybe taking in the Guinness factory!) or just a relaxing few days – a few days in Dublin could be a very welcome trip.
There are countless deals to be snapped up from theatre tickets in the world famous Gaiety Theatre to a visit to the Point Theatre for a concert. Keep your eyes and ears open for bargain attractions in this beautiful and historic city.
I have personally been privileged to visit the Guinness factory. It is basically a mixture between a factory and a museum. Our tickets were a kind of ‘paperweight’ which was a nice memento of the visit. The tour finished with a complimentary pint of Guinness – although at the price, it can hardly be called ‘complementary’.
Be aware though that although it is called the ‘factory’ you will not actually see the ‘real life’ making of Guinness. But I would definitely say that it was a fascinating tour all the same.
Travel in Dublin is not quite as convenient as getting around in London. There is however a good bus network serving the Capital. There is, almost needless to say, an array of famous locations across the south of Ireland, which a hire car could be the very answer you require – you could even hire a car for just one day, allowing an escape from the hustle and bustle of the City.
The Irish are an ‘excellent bunch’ – I guarantee it to be a real ‘eye opener’ and an experience that you are likely to want to repeat. There is certainly enough to see and experience to fill a rather large number of short breaks.
